What will The Luthers do throughout the day/evening?
It depends, to some extent, upon the package that you choose for your event. Regardless, we will arrive in plenty of time for setup, liaising with venue staff and event organisers to ensure we transition seamlessly into your day. If we are performing during the day, weather permitting, we are happy to do this inside or out creating the perfect ambience for your event. In the evening, we will perform a total of 2 hours of live music and, if booked to do so, DJ between the sets and to complete the evening. Why mashups?
Having played in bands and DJ’d for years, it is evident that there are many songs that people absolutely love, though when they are played for dancing purposes it’s often clear that not the whole song is as well-known, or catchy as once thought. The Luthers have, therefore, carefully selected and crafted the songs to keep people on the dancefloor, whilst also keeping people guessing as to what is coming next. This also means that your event will be unique, as these mashups are written and arranged by The Luthers and so not performed by anyone else!
Can I request for The Luthers to play certain songs live?
Yes, you can. If there are any songs in our setlist that you really want to hear in their entirety, then, with adequate notice, this is possible. Depending upon the package chosen, we will also endeavour to learn 2 additional songs, including, if it’s a wedding, your first dance; however, it is important to note that if we don’t think we can do the song justice for some reason, we will discuss this with you on the run up to the day, recommending alternatives as necessary. Some songs for example just may not suit the instrument setup, or our voices and it’s more important, for such a special memory, that you get the sound that you want.
We are always learning new songs and therefore may be able to consider additional requests, which we will happily discuss with you on a case-by-case basis, though these may incur further costs to cover any additional time/rehearsal.
Can I request for certain songs to be played during the DJ set?
We will happily take requests for the DJ set both before the event and during, though won’t promise to play every track. Having had years of experience DJ’ing at numerous venues and for a wide range of audiences, we are well placed to discern the suitability of songs for the crowd at your event. We say this as some requests which may be one person’s favourite song, may just have the knack of clearing a dancefloor, which is certainly not what anybody wants at your event. It is important to tell us any songs you would definitely not want to hear too and this will be discussed with you during the consultation phase of the booking, prior to your event.
How far will The Luthers travel?
The Luthers love travelling and would gladly go anywhere for the right gig! We love experiencing new venues and settings and will happily perform wherever. As stated on the ‘Our Services’ page, travel is charged at cost over 40 miles from LE1 4SA and accommodation may be required if travel time is over 2.5 hours. For gigs outside of the UK, we will discuss flights, accommodation and any associated costs with you in the consultation phase of the booking.
How much space do The Luthers need?
Though we love to spread out, the beauty of having just the 2 of us is that we can squeeze up a corner in a small room and still turn it into a party venue. We are equipped to perform at anything from large venues to someone’s house.
How do I book The Luthers?
Contact us through our ‘Contact’ page and discuss your requirements with us. One of us will be happy to talk with you, via phone or email, to factor in all considerations and let you know prices and availability. Should you wish to book us for a particular date, a small non-refundable deposit will be required to secure the date, with other payment terms discussed with you when we speak.
Can we use the speaker system for speeches?
Absolutely. We don’t, however, use radio mics for our gigs and, therefore, if this is something that you require, you would have to source these separately. If you do source these, we would be more than happy to line these through our desk meaning the speeches could be heard through our speakers.
Do The Luthers have PAT tested equipment and Public Liability Insurance?
Yes, we do. All equipment is PAT tested and we are covered with Public Liability Insurance up to the amount of £5m. If required by a venue, we can also provide a risk assessment for our presence at your event.
